Lamet® nodularisers

Lamet ® nodulariser indicates a MgFeSi based alloy where the sole source of rare earth metal is lanthanum. Lanthanum has been scientifically shown to be a very effective shrinkage reducing element, more so than either cerium or mischmetal when used in nodularising alloys

Lamet® nodulariser can be used in two ways:

  • As an in-the mould alloy. Lamet® nodulariser is specially graded in a 1x4mm sizing to provide optimum solubility and consistency of Mg recovery in this critical process. Elements normally associated with slag formation are minimised to give a clean iron
  • For ladle and flow-through treatments, a range of Lamet® nodulariser  alloys are produced and these can be used in the normal way showing minimised shrinkage compared to other rare earth sources. Introduction of a complete process using specialist preconditioners, Lamet® nodulariser and cover materials has shown to give quieter reactions, exceptionally high Mg recovery and the most economic benefits to our customers.
