Recent EHS development

Our EHS work has resulted in a downward trend in the numbers of injuries for many years, reducing the likelihood of injuries with about 80 per cent since the turn of the century.

From 2011 the improvement slowed down until 2015, when results improved more than two-fold, giving Elkem the best safety results ever.

Unfortunately, the number of injuries at some of the plants escalated in 2016, bringing the total results back to the level since before 2015, even though most of the plants were still showing very good results. 2017 brought the company back on track after with a positive development for EHS after the temporary setback in 2016.

In 2018 we reached the second best total recordable injury rate in Elkem’s history with 2.2 per million working hours .
