Elkem Carbon Fiskaa was established after the invention of the Søderberg electrode in 1917. Since 1919 Elkem Carbon Fiskaa has produced and marketed electrode paste all over the world.

The plant is equipped with proprietary calcining technology for the production of electrically calcined anthracite as well as production of electrode and ramming pastes. The plant has dedicated calcining capacity for the production of ELGRAPH® recarburisers. The plant is located together with Elkem Solar and Elkem's main research centre at Fiskaa, Kristiansand.
