GIFA is an international foundry fair that is held in Dusseldorf every 4th year. The 13th edition was held this June and as trainee in the Foundry R&D team I got to accompany them there.

This Trainee blog post was written by trainee Ellen Døli.

Some facts about GIFA:

  • 2124 exhibitors
  • 86253 sqm of stand place
  • 78 000 visitors from more than 120 countries.

The Elkem stand

“More than 100 reasons for a partnership” refering to the more than 100 different products the Elkem Foundry division can offer.

On the stand of a german high-school I got to test my skills as a mould maker when I made my own aluminium penguins. I guess metallurgists do something similar during their studies, but as a physicist working in the metallurgical industry I am pleased to say that I have finally made my own castings!

This will be my last post since I will only be an Elkem trainee for 3 more weeks!
