Elkem Solar Silicon® - ESS®

Elkem Solar Silicon® ESS® is a high purity silicon block for use as feedstock in ingot solidification for PV for PV application. Elkem Solar Silicon® ESS® is produced by five step metallurgical route.
 

Description

Elkem Solar Silicon® (ESS®) is a solar grade silicon developed by Elkem Solar. Production of ESS® requires only 25% of the energy consumption and CO2 emission of poly-silicon by the Siemens process. ESS® was approved as a registered Carbon Footprint Product (CFP) in Japan (2013). CO2 Visualization Carbon Footprint at http://www.cfp-japan.jp .

ESS® is used as feedstock in both multi crystalline silicon (mc-Si) and mono crystalline silicon (cz-Si) processes.

 ESS® is a compensated silicon feed

stock material that contains both boron (B) and Phosphorous (P). ESS® is delivered in brick shape and can be charged directly into the crucible.

Application

The main application for Elkem Solar Silicon® ESS® is as raw material in the production of ingots for PV industry.



Sizes

The typical block size of Elkem Solar Silicon® ESS® is L ≤ 277 mm, 

W ≤ 142 mm and H ≤ 150 mm. Each block has an average mass of 12.0 kg (max 13.0 kg).

Packing

Elkem Solar Silicon® ESS® is delivered on pallets with 24 blocks.
