Antifoam / Defoamers

Antifoam or Defoamers are chemical additives used to prevent the formation of foam during mixing or drilling fluids or during drilling operations. Elkem Silicon Products offers MD-10 and MD-17.

MD-10

MD-10 is a silicone emulsion grade based on Elkem new generation high efficient silicone compound for the prevention, control and elimination of foam in aqueous systems.

MD-10 is designed for use as an antifoam agent for cement mixtures to help prevent foaming and air entrainment caused by additives such as retarders, fluid loss agents, and latex. No effect on cement properties has been found with MD-10 and it is compatible with all API classes of cement all additives.

MD-17

MD-17 is a wide range temperature stable silicon-free defoamer for oilfield cementing operations.

MD-17 is a wide range temperature stable silicon-free defoamer. Its formulation based on hydrocarbons and ionic surfactants.

MD-17 is designed for use as an defoamer agent for cement mixtures to help eliminating foaming and air entertainment caused by additives such as retarders, fluid loss agents, and latex. No effect on cement properties has been found with MD-17 and it is compatible with all API classes of cement all additives.
