On the rise...Merdeka PNB 118

The Merdeka PNB 118, a mega high-rise tower located in Kuala Lumpur, is making its way up in the world and is figuratively "hoisting the Elkem Microsilica flag" along with it.

Elkem is securing the supply of Microsilica® to a new high-rise building in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Merdeka PNB 118.

At 635 metres, the Merdeka will be the tallest building in South East Asia and the fourth tallest building in the world upon expected completion in 2024..

Fun Facts: The name “Merdeka” means “Independence Day” in the Malaysian language. The tower's off-center spire is inspired by the raised right hand of Tunku Abdul Rahman (who is regarded as the founding father of Malaysia)  and the featuring of an off-center spire is inspired by the raised arm of the Statue of Liberty, which is also a symbol of independence.

The project will include a design of a mixture of diamond-shaped facets, which signify the diversity of the Malaysian people.
