Elkem continues to be your trusted partner in challenging times at IFEX 2022

India, 21 March 2022: From April 17th to April 19th, the team from Elkem Silicon Products will be attending the 70th Indian Foundry Congress & IFEX at Helipad Ground Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Our team will be there to showcase Elkem's products, technologies and value-added services as a part of being a “total solution provider” for the foundry industry. You can leverage Elkem’s 100 years plus experience in foundry industry and its processes, to improve your casting yield, quality and rejection control.

The 70th Indian Foundry Congress & IFEX will provide a great platform for Indian and international companies to showcase their cutting-edge innovations and services. Being able to finally meet and interact with the attendees despite the current pandemic, this year's theme is Business Beyond Boundaries. Over the years, IFEX has established itself as the most significant forum for the Indian Subcontinent's foundry sector. Elkem Silicon Products is excited to be a part of the event again this year, demonstrating novel solution packages for foundries in the region. Elkem is your trusted partner in challenging times and will gladly assist you in your foundry practices.

On-site Thermal Analysis – Elkem EPIC®

Elkem's strength lies in offering both excellent products and services, such as our on-site technical advice using thermal analysis: Elkem EPIC®. Thermal analysis is an insightful tool that provides information on general metallurgical quality, thus helping in problem solving and process optimization. EPIC® helps obtaining real-time information on the condition of your iron and tells you which inoculant is best.

Its portable nature permits its use at any point in the production process to check metal health. Moreover, it does not require external electricity supply and its 4-channel function allows the recording of up to 4 sets of data at once. In short, EPIC® helps determine the important factors that must be considered whether an iron is suitable for pouring. Elkem's knowledgeable technical team can assist in identifying the sources of variation and develop cost-effective solutions using Elkem products.

Remote communication assistance headsets

The world is becoming increasingly connected in the digital era. Elkem Remote market service headsets using advanced AR technology, offers one more level of service to our foundry customers in real time. During any visit of our local Elkem representative, one or more global experts in foundry technology can be brought in real-time virtually to provide technical advice, conduct field observation, and assist in live problem solving. The resources available through our remote market service include senior foundry experts, quality experts, logistics experts, plant production experts, analytical experts, R&D experts and more. This enables Elkem to extend its renowned technical competence further in our quest to become a true worldwide partner.

Ferroalloy anti-segregation bin

Another aspect in which Elkem Silicon Products distinguishes itself as a foundry expert is our ferroalloy storage bin design that minimises segregation of alloys during handling/processing at a foundry. When the alloy is packed into bags and transported, segregation occurs, causing coarse particles to concentrate on the bag's periphery/top and small particles to concentrate in the centre/bottom.

Elkem offers specially designed bottom discharge steel bins that are ideal for storing and dispensing MgFeSi alloys. This process takes far less time and effort than shovelling alloy from a bag or regular bin, while also reducing spillages and segregation. This ensures that every unit of metal treatment alloy used is representative in size distribution of the lot, thus avoiding variation in effectiveness of the treatments.

Sustainability

Elkem Silicon Products is now more than ever devoted to sustainability. An important area of innovation has been our recently released global climate roadmap that outlines our plans to decrease emissions to net zero, while increasing green transition supplies. Elkem's goal is to lower its fossil CO₂ footprint by expanding the usage of renewable carbon sources and the development of innovative production processes.

In order to do so, many actions have already been undertaken, such as replacing fossil carbon with biocarbon in our smelting processes; increasing the use of energy recovery systems; and using electricity from hydropower plants (to name a few). Elkem also highlights the importance of understanding the carbon footprint of our products by performing life cycle analyses.

Elkem is looking forward to meeting you at IFEX 2022, Stall No.P-4A, Hall 10,  Raw Material Hall, where the technical team will be available for discussions, additional assistance and solutions.
