Elkem Expands Eco-Designed Silicone Portfolio to Support High-Performance, Sustainable Beauty Formulations

Noticias 07.04.2026

LYON, France — April 7, 2026 — Elkem Silicones, a global leader in advanced silicone materials, introduces three innovations expanding the company’s portfolio of high-performance and more sustainable solutions for cosmetic formulations. The new technologies include two eco-designed ingredients and a multifunctional emulsifier.

“Consumers increasingly expect beauty products that deliver both a luxurious sensorial experience and reliable performance, while staying true to their environmental values,” said Feifei Lin, global marketing manager, Personal Care. “With these new PURESIL™ solutions, we are equipping formulators with advanced ingredients that unite sensorial excellence, strong technical performance, and meaningful contributions to more sustainable formulations. Driving sustainability in beauty remains at the heart of our innovation efforts.”

Building on the success of our eco-designed platforms, Elkem Silicones is broadening the PURESIL™ ORG series with new materials combining exceptional sensory performance with strong functional performance in biobased, renewable and readily biodegradable carriers. Formulated in a sunflower seed–derived C15-19 alkane, the new grades allow beauty brands to offer sophisticated textures and advanced functional benefits, while helping to improve the environmental profile of cosmetic formulations:

  • PURESIL™ ORG 0415 is a velvety elastomer gel delivering smooth glide, a silky after-feel, long-lasting moisture retention, and a soft-focus effect for skin care and color cosmetics. It promotes even coverage and helps structure mineral sunscreens into a uniform film, supporting and enhancing SPF performance.
  •   PURESIL™ ORG 0515 is an elastomer fluid blend with a distinctive texture and exceptionally high lubricity, offering lustrous gloss, a smooth finish and improved spreadability, while helping create a more even, natural look in makeup and sunscreen formulations. Its versatility supports use across hair, skin, and sun care, as well as color cosmetics.

These two new products complete the ORG range, a series of high-performance ingredients formulated in a biobased carrier, enabling formulators to reduce the use of fossil-based ingredients and achieve their sustainability goals.

In addition, the company proudly unveils PURESIL™ ESG 03, a high-performance, multifunctional emulsifying elastomer blend that takes pigment and mineral UV filter dispersion to the next level. Designed to deliver outstanding suspension power, it ensures ultra-uniform distribution, minimizes agglomeration, and enhances long-term stability in elastomer gel matrices, significantly elevating both product performance and sensorial appeal. Versatile and formulation-friendly, it is perfectly suited for anhydrous systems and excels as a co‑emulsifier in both water‑in‑silicone (W/Si) and water‑in‑oil (W/O) emulsions. With PURESIL™ ESG 03, formulators can confidently create sunscreens and color cosmetics with stronger, more reliable performance, a smoother glide, and a soft, refined skin feel that consumers will instantly appreciate.

.

PURESIL™ ESG 03 helps cosmetics formulators deliver stronger, more reliable sun protection with a smoother glide and a soft, elegant skin feel.
