- First mechanically recycled silicone masterbatch with high recycled content
Bluestar Silicones launches the first mechanically recycled silicone masterbatch with high recycled content and premium performance
LYON, France October 6, 2026 - Bluestar Silicones, a leading global silicone solutions provider and pioneer in silicone recycling, today announces the launch of the first mechanically recycled silicone masterbatch in its portfolio to meet technical performance and product quality comparable to conventional materials.
Incorporating 33% mechanically recycled content, this new product, now available for pre-commercial sales, expands Bluestar Silicones’ Sircle™ circular technologies portfolio while supporting the company’s broader sustainability strategy.
BLUESIL™ MR 460 U 33P silicone masterbatch is designed to deliver a unique balance of recycled content, premium performance and processing versatility. With 33% mechanically recycled silicone, it combines remarkable surface quality with mechanical properties comparable to conventional silicone elastomers. Its high transparency — 77–83% according to ISO 2471 — also provides an excellent basis for colour formulation. These properties make it suitable for demanding automotive and industrial applications, including cable manufacturing, profile and tube extrusion, and moulded parts.
BLUESIL™ MR 460 U 33P marks the commercial debut of Bluestar Silicones' mechanical recycling breakthrough processing technology, announced in September 2025, bringing recycled silicone content into a market-ready solution that helps customers achieve their sustainability targets with up to a 30% reduction in product carbon footprint, without compromising performance.
“Our ambition is to make silicone circularity tangible for our customers by developing solutions that meet the standards of demanding industries. With BLUESIL™ MR 460 U 33P, we are combining a high level of recycled content with the performance and reliability expected from advanced silicone materials,” says Vincent Chartron, Regional Business Manager at Bluestar Silicones.
Due to its neutral aspect, BLUESIL™ MR 460 U 33P can easily be compounded with other silicone masterbatches, as well as conventional curing systems, additives and colour masterbatches to match the desired specifications. It has been developed to be processed using conventional silicone converting technologies, including extrusion, injection and compression moulding. Bluestar Silicones is currently working with selected partners and customers to further validate processing conditions at industrial scale.
As the global silicone market continues to expand, with independent reports forecasting annual growth of around 4.5% to 5.4%, customers are also under increasing pressure to reduce environmental impact without compromising material performance. This dual demand for growth and sustainability is creating strong momentum for scalable circular solutions such as BLUESIL™ MR 460 U 33P silicone masterbatch, designed to integrate recycled silicone content while maintaining the reliability expected from high-performance silicone materials.
