As an international producer of metals, materials and chemicals Elkem is fully committed to ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for employees and contractors working at Elkem facilities. Elkem is also committed to controlling and reducing the environmental impact of our production activities to ensure a responsible environmental footprint. Our governing policies state that health, safety, and environment (HSE) are always Elkem’s first priority and we run our operations based on a zero-harm philosophy.

Elkem’s production processes and activities involve a number of inherent hazards and emissions as operations include high temperature smelting (>2000 C) and advanced processing of hazardous chemicals. To meet these challenges Elkem has comprehensive systems for risk management and pollution control that are implemented at all Elkem sites worldwide.
