Iron Control Agents

Elkem Oilfield Iron Control Agents are products that eliminate Fe(III) ions either by sequestering/complexing process or by reduction process.

During an acid stimulation treatment, the Fe(III) ion is considered as major offender cation because one it leads to undesired precipitation of insoluble Fe(III) hydroxide precipitation as the pH of the spent acid rises. It also enhances/stabilizes sludges during the carbonate acidizing treatments.

The source of Fe(III) ion could be the formation itself and/or it can be carried by the treatment fluid out of its chemical interactions with the metals of injection lines and the completion.
