Elkem Silicones Xinghuo

The Xinghuo plant is located in Jiangxi Province in eastern China. Xinghuo is the cradle of China's silicone industry, and the world's leading silicones manufacturer integrated both upstream and downstream.

The Xinghuo site, along with the Roussillon site in France, are the major industrial bases producing intermediates to supply upstream materials to its downstream production sites worldwide which are closer to customers.

Elkem Silicone Xinghuo prioritises a “Safety First, Environment First, Quality First” approach and maintaining an intelligent and green strategy.

Products and supply

With an annual manufacturing capacity of 500kt per year of silicone monomer, and the production of 120kt of downstream products, the plant provides an extensive range of standard and specialty products. These include upstream silicone raw materials as well as downstream applications such as HMDZ & HMDS, Siloxane, gum, vinyl oil, OH polymers, amino oil, PDMS, sealants, high consistency rubber (HCR), liquid silicone rubber (LSR), MH Sil fluid, emulsions and other silicone products. Its auxiliary facilities also provide ionic membrane soda and liquid chlorine product.

History

Founded in 1968, the original chemical plant was affiliated with China's Ministry of Chemical Industry and was a major manufacturer of national defense chemicals and new chemical materials.

Silicone production grew over the years, and the early 1990s the plant became the most advanced silicone production unit in China. In 1996, Xinghuo joined China National BlueStar (Group) Co., Ltd., and after 50 years of development, Xinghuo formally joined Elkem in 2017.
